Engineering new breasting and mooring dolphins at Bullenbaai
Our engineers have designed and structurally engineered the installation of 6 new mooring dolphins and replacing the breasting dolphins that had been installed since the days of Shell. This reconstruction will allow for the safe manoeuvring, berthing and mooring of ships at Bullenbaai. Our engineers have designed dolphins with strength capacity to withstand the continuous pull of large ships and in turn with enough flexibility to and resilience to absorb the kinetic energy from a ship that strikes it.
Once the construction phase is completed, two ships will be able to berth at Jetty 2. Bullenbaai is considered a critical part of Curaçao’s economy. The increased capacity makes Bullenbaai attractive for new business as more ships will have access to unload and load at a bigger and faster volume. The mooring dolphins will serve as a harbouring point for seafarers to dock their ship while waiting for the next job to come in.
